VERNON, BC – May 15, 2018 – True Leaf Medicine International Ltd. (“True Leaf”) (CSE: MJ) (FSE: TLA) (OTCQB: TRLFF), a plant-focused wellness brand for people and their pets, announced today that Chief Scientific Officer, Dr. Chris Spooner, will be a featured speaker at the NICHE Canada forum on cannabis legalization on May 17, 2018, in Kelowna, British Columbia.
Dr. Chris Spooner, a respected naturopathic doctor and champion of integrative medicine, leads the True Leaf Medical Advisory Board in his role as Chief Scientific Officer. The Board oversees the research and development of True Leaf’s medicinal cannabis product line for patients who have found their pharmaceutical treatments ineffective or intolerable.
The forum, Cannabis & Our Community - Legalization: What to Expect, will seek to educate stakeholders from municipal government, work safety, health care, insurance, tourism, and other organizations that will be impacted by the legalization of cannabis.
Dr. Spooner will speak on the need to clearly distinguish medical use from recreational use and highlight the differences between the medicinal and recreational cannabis sectors. He will also provide insight on medicinal cannabis use amongst different demographics, differences in product use patterns, and provide his perspective on how the confusion that exists around access for patients and gaps in the system will undermine efforts to eliminate the grey market.
He will be joined by other subject matter experts, including: Mike McGuire, Cannabis Legalization & Regulation Branch, Health Canada; Dan Rowland, Former Director of Public Affairs, Department of Excise & Licenses, Denver, Colorado; Josh Ginsberg, Co-Founder & Chairman, Native Roots Dispensary; and City of Pitt Meadows Mayor John Becker.
The NICHE Canada forum will be held on Thursday, May 17, 2018, at the Mary Irwin Theatre in Kelowna. Tickets are available online at www.rotarycentreforthearts.com or call the box office at 250-717-5304.
