True Leaf Medicine—the Lumby company that’s made a name for itself selling hemp-based treats to dogs—is about to launch a brand new product, this time geared towards our feline friends.
May 8, at the Interzoo pet industry exhibition in Germany, True Leaf will unveil its new line of hemp-based treats that are specially formulated for cats.
True Leaf says the treats, which have a soft centre made with hemp, are a first of their kind in the world. They are intended to provide “calming support for cats, promote skin and coat health, help prevent hairballs, and also support urinary tract function.”
“True Leaf Pet exists to help pets live happier, healthier lives. We will soon offer millions of cat owners a line of treats that provide the same benefits as our popular hemp-based products for dogs,” says True Leaf CEO Darcy Bomford.
True Leaf recently expanded in Europe, partnering with several new distributors to bring its products to pet stores in Norway, Holland, Belgium, Switzerland, and Greece.
The company has been manufacturing cannabis pet chews for years, but last year began a massive expansion, with an eye to both medical pot production and the pending legalization of pot in Canada.
In January it dropped $3.3 million on the 40-acre property it’s new production facility will sit on, using a portion of the proceeds from its recent $10 million round of Regulation A+ financing to pay for the site.
As the company continues work on the cannabis cultivation facility, it has brought on a series of well-known professionals to help with everything from product development to research and branding.
Recently, the company announced Don Chisholm as its chief marketing officer.
It also recently announced Dr. Chris Spooner would head up a medical advisory board. Earlier in March True Leaf also hired a well-known industry advisor and new director of horticulture.
